A Blessing in disguise?
Are you impressed with my writings? Do you marvel at how consistent I’ve been? Comrade, I’d like to take the credit but all power belongs to Triple C.
My goal for the new year is Consistency not just with my work but with my relationship with God.
I’m a very good starter, I start amazing ideas and then I drop them. My commitment level was zero. My friend was one of the admins in the Triple C challenge.
I saw an opportunity to be accountable and consistent so I took the chance. I decided to use the opportunity to propagate my tech gospel.
There’s a saying that in a city where there’s no law, there’s no offence. To avoid unseriousness, we were given the rules for the challenge.
We were to make a public announcement about the challenge to be held accountable; submit all entries on or before 9 pm or get “sniped”(evicted).
Everyone was excited, ready to show their writing prowess. At the beginning of the challenge, we were over 200 participants. I was intimidated with the type of content these people were churning out. They were that good!
What stood out for me in this challenge was the admins’ dedication. They go through every content and drop their review. Dangerman, the sniper doesn’t hesitate to lock the group and evict defaulters.
I started thinking he lives for this moment. He has a board where he has all our names and crosses off whoever goes against the rule. Fear him.
I know there are other participants who have a very tight schedule like mine. I handle various social media pages and I still have to show up with my tech content. I started thinking I set myself up.
I had designs to work on, videos to edit, projects to manage and I still have to write!!!! What was I thinking?!! Other days, I lament about this and I say to my friend who is one of the admins that I’ll be evicted.
She’s always telling me nothing of such will happen, she trusts my abilities. I never told her to use her influence for me.
The thought never crossed my mind. Nobody knows we stay in the same room and when it’s her turn to review our content, she’s never partial. Her name is Bridget and she’s my buddy.
I remember writing one of my content at my birthday party. It was a serious race against time. You can read it here.
It’s the last day of the content writing challenge and I’ve accomplished so much. I have 23 followers on Medium, I push my content to a tech publication here on medium and they accept it without hesitation, I have a foreign client who I write for and more importantly, I’ve been able to help four people transit to tech.
That’s a big win for me. People reach out to me now for tech advice, that’s massive. God, it feels so surreal.
All these happened within the 30 days content challenge. Would I have accomplished all these without consistency? No. I realize that you can do anything once you’re determined.
Your circle is also important. I had the best circle. They read my content and tell me where to improve on. They hold me accountable.
I look back and wonder if this is a blessing in disguise. Without a doubt, it is. I’m glad I’m part of the 40 participants left. There’s no going back.
Thank you TripleC. Looking forward to the next challenge.
