Habits to win in tech- BrandWithReina

Yesterday, my article was on “burnout”. Today, we all for winning. It might sound cliche to say what is worth doing is worth doing well, Peace, I’m telling you no truer words other than “God loves us” has been said.

You know how fun and time-consuming tech is but do you know you need certain habits to win in tech? Imagine my surprise when I discovered you need these habits to win. I’d like to take credit for this knowledge but that is just plain selfishness.

Heard of Twitter spaces? They share deep insights in one of those and I was opportune to join this particular space. Anything for my audience who are passionate about tech.

Interestingly, these habits are not difficult to develop, all you need is a dash of intention and a sprinkle of consistency and you are on your way to winning.

Let’s cook some habits, shall we?

  • Develop adaptability. Tech is fluid and adaptable. To win in tech, you’ve got to be fluid as well.
  • Develop communication skills. Most people in tech lack social skills. The people you are developing the tech for are non-tech people and one of the greatest soft skills you can have as a techie is communication skills. Go get it.
  • Think like a business owner and watch your value Skyrock. So you work under a firm? It doesn’t stop you from developing a business or analytical mind. You put this to use and they won’t want to let you go. Tell me if that isn’t valuable.
  • Position yourself to leverage the fact that your opinion matters. I’ve always been scared of sharing my opinion. I just feel there’s no need to say anything when people have contributed so much to the discussion. Do you know what I did? I started talking. I listened more and share my ideas. Your opinions are valid. Say them.
  • Give yourself the grace that you’re learning, there are times you fail and then be on your endless marathon. The journey is the reward. I remember learning video editing with Adobe Premiere, I was close to tears. What in God’s name are all these complications? However, here I am, three months into it and I’m navigating the software like a pro. There’s always something new to learn about that software and other software as well. Fall in love with the process, you have to trust the process
  • Build a community in a personal skill set. If you’ve been reading my article, you will notice I keep mentioning people around me. Surround yourself with people of like minds, it helps your growth and your consistency.

Do you have any of these habits yet? If you don’t have these habits, it’s not too late to start. You can’t form a habit in a day. It takes you to be intentional and consistent to develop these habits. Try to be productive and be intentional with your time.

With these habits, you’re a winner and you’ve got tech figured out.

Do you think there are other habits I didn’t mention? Feel free to share in the comment section.
