Do you think writers are introverts? I’ll let you form your opinion about it.
Sometimes I wonder where I fall in, an introvert or an extrovert or just in between.

I think I pick the one that fits the event at that moment.

One thing I haven’t developed at the moment is public speaking. See, I’m not going to mince words with you, facing a crowd is on another level.

I hide behind my content to express myself. I’m so good at it that I can see you nodding your head in agreement. You can relate.

I’ve got a bit of knowledge on digital marketing that my boss insists on calling me a digital marketer. I try my best. With a little knowledge there, a little knowledge here, I find myself in the role of a digital marketer. I also handle the social media pages of my organization.

Digital Marketing is also an important skill to have in tech especially if you want to venture into tech sales.

We had a program in Abuja and anchoring the program fell on my lap. I haven’t done that before. Yes, I’ve represented my schools in a debate and I did that effortlessly. I can’t do that anymore.

Please I don’t want to face people. He refused. I pleaded, begged and was close to tears. Finally, he disagreed. I anchored the program.

Did I die? No. Did they listen? Yes. Did they laugh? Yes
What did I do? I faced my fear and talked from the place of authority. Did I fumble a bit? Oh yes. The English Language is hard and when you need the right terminologies, they run away from you. Please don’t tell me I’m alone in this.

I anchored a 4hour training session with a dash of errors along the line.

Then it occurred to me, I’m building authority in tech and a time will come when I have to talk to people and not hide behind my writings. What am I going to do then? Will I stutter? Or beg to be exempted from such? No.

I don’t know how to quit. I might take a step back but I’ll definitely throw in my weight.

I’m sharing my experience to inform you that tech is not tech without non-technical skills. This is where I realized the power of public speaking.

I can’t get tech disciples if I don’t develop my public speaking skills. My writing skills are being sharpened every day and it’s time to sharpen another skill.

What skill are you looking to sharpen aside from your present skill? Tell me in the comment section.
