Weekend Ideas for Techies

If you’re reading this, it means you are a tech-bro or sis and you want to change your weekend game.

Welcome onboard.

It’s no news that our weekday activities extend to weekends. As a tech-bro or sis, we find it difficult to have fun during the weekends. We have been tagged as boring people with no social life.

They couldn’t be more correct.

Our work hits us so hard that we barely have time to socialize or take care of ourselves. There is always something to correct, add or delegate especially when there is a deadline.

It’s no fault of ours but at the end of the day, we need to slow down and create time for things outside work.

So, what are the weekend ideas for techies?

  1. Avoid work:

Our natural instinct is to finish up on time and move to the next project. We don’t care about the weekend, every day of the week is just the same as others and a good time to get tasks done.

However, you can avoid work on weekends. Finish up your task on time and rest weekends. It can be tempting to go back to work but a break from work can keep you invigorated.

2. Exercise:

I don’t know about you but aside the pains I feel in my muscle when I do an exercise, I’m refreshed. All I need to after that is sleep.

Exercise helps the brain, it helps the muscles especially from our weird sitting positions. Furthermore, the mind is at rest.

Do an exercise today, you need it.

3. Spend time with family:

I miss my family. I recently ended my National Youth Service Corps scheme in Kaduna and trust me, I miss my family.

However, I got another family with my colleagues at work and we get to spend time together.

We talk about everything and try to avoid work-related discussions. It’s called spending time together.

4. Socialize:

Are you in a community? Do you socialize with them? Or you just join every community and keep mute?

Socialize with members of your community, know each other, discuss discoveries in your field, hang out.

5. Plan the next week:

Yes, you have to plan. It goes without saying that “he who fails to plan, plan to fail”. What would the following week look like? Make a plan.

It doesn’t mean you should start working, it means making a list of your activities for the following week to know how you can prioritize and finish up before the next weekend.

It’s high time we are intentional about our weekends and say No to those jobs that want to take over.

Try dey rest, if you no dey, another person go do the job.

Remember, the job won’t be there forever but family and friends will be. So, keep the connection while you still can.

As for me, I’m avoiding work this week. See you next week.

Ciao
